Mylar balloons still 39¢ at Harnelinc
Mylar balloons have been around since the late 1970’s. Early Mylar balloons did not have a valve for self sealing. Instead they had to be heat sealed shut after being filled with Helium. This was no easy task. If the heat was too high or applied too long the heated area would just tear off. If the heat was too low or not applied for a long enough time, the Helium just leaked out. Also if the balloon wasn’t held tightly shut between filling and heating shut, then the balloon often was sealed without being fully inflated. This resulted in a wrinkled balloon that often didn’t have enough helium to float. So, filling a Mylar balloon was a real art form. Finally in 1990 the self sealing valve was introduced and revolutionized the Mylar balloon business. Today the Mylar balloon industry has matured and become an integral part of parties, celebrations, and advertising. While new designs and innovations keep occurring, the 17-18″ Mylar balloons continue to be the most popular category in Mylar balloons.
After many years in the Mylar balloon business Harnel continues to sell 17-18″ Mylar balloons for just 39¢ each. Hundreds of styles are available in everyday and holiday categories.
